Love2shop, one of the UK’s leading gift card and employee rewards businesses, was among an influential gathering of business leaders, politicians and civic figures who came together at the Houses of Parliament last week for a landmark reception celebrating Liverpool City Region’s economic ambition.

The Liverpool City Region Parliamentary Reception, hosted by Downtown in Business, brought together senior figures from business, local government and Westminster to showcase the region’s investment potential and the power of public-private partnership.

Alex Speed, Head of Love2shop and Director of Sales, and Simon Birch, Love2shop’s Prepayments Director, joined fellow business leaders, MPs and policymakers for discussions around economic growth, innovation, regeneration and investment.

Headquartered in the Liverpool City Region and part of PayPoint Group, Love2shop has grown into one of the UK’s most recognised gift card and rewards providers. The business works with thousands of organisations across the country, helping employers, universities, public sector organisations, utility providers and consumer brands reward, engage and support employees, customers, students and communities.

Its products are used for everything from staff rewards and Christmas bonuses to student welfare support, customer acquisition campaigns and consumer gifting.

The reception was opened by Bootle MP Peter Dowd, while Downtown in Business Group Chairman and Chief Executive Frank McKenna spoke about the vital role businesses play in shaping public policy and driving economic prosperity.
Guests also heard from Ryan Wain, Director of Policy at the Tony Blair Institute, and Liverpool City Council Leader Councillor Liam Robinson, who outlined the city’s ambitious regeneration agenda and future opportunities for investors and businesses.

Alex Speed said: “It was a privilege for Love2shop to be invited such an important event and assist in flying the flag for Liverpool City Region in Westminster.

“Love2shop is a business that touches the lives of millions of people across the UK — whether that’s an employee receiving a reward from their employer, a university student accessing welfare support, a customer receiving an incentive, or someone buying a gift card for a loved one.

“That breadth of reach and purpose is something we’re incredibly proud of, and events like this are a reminder of the strength, innovation and ambition that exists across the Liverpool City Region.”

Frank McKenna, Group Chairman and Chief Executive of Downtown in Business, added: “Love2shop is one of the Liverpool City Region’s great business success stories and it was fantastic to welcome Alex and Simon to our Parliamentary Reception at Westminster.

“The company has built a strong national reputation while remaining proud of its roots in the city region. Businesses such as Love2shop demonstrate the innovation, entrepreneurship and ambition that continue to make Liverpool one of the UK’s most exciting places to do business.”

The Parliamentary Reception forms part of Downtown in Business’ ongoing commitment to ensuring Liverpool City Region’s voice is heard at the highest levels of government while creating opportunities for business leaders to engage directly with decision-makers and influencers from across the political spectrum.
