Manchester-based independent agency, Loaf, celebrates two decades of delivering branding, campaigns and digital experiences for some of the UK’s biggest organisations.
Founded in 2005 by Dave Mullen and Alan Houghton, the agency has grown from a small design studio into an established, nationally recognised creative agency.
The firm has worked with several high-profile brands across the UK including BAE Systems, The Jockey Club, Axa Wealth, The Grand National, GS1 UK Healthcare, Merseyrail, ECF (English Cities Fund), Liverpool ONE, Bruntwood Sci-Tech, Renaker and more.
During this time, the team has built a reputation for crafting beautiful ideas that connect emotionally, perform commercially, and help ambitious clients realise their potential.
Reflecting on the milestone, Co-Founder and Creative Director Dave Mullen said: “Running a creative business isn’t easy. There’ve been incredible highs and tough lows, but through it all, two things have stayed constant: our belief that creativity, done beautifully and with purpose, really can make a difference; and our love for what we do. We’re extremely proud of what we’ve built, but we’re not looking back – we’re more excited about what’s next”.
The 20-year milestone comes during a period of strong momentum for the firm, having gained a series of recent account wins including NPTN (National Property Transaction Network), The Cheltenham Festival 2026, Legacie Developments, BCO Annual Conference 2026, The Betfred Epsom Derby and Merseyrail’s latest Leisure Campaign.
Loaf’s guiding principle ‘The Beautiful Idea’ continues to shape its work, combining insight, creativity and innovation to deliver ideas that both move people and drive performance.
“Twenty years in, and we still feel like we’re just getting started,” added Co-Founder and Design Director Alan Houghton. “The industry keeps changing, and that keeps us sharp. We’re as hungry now as we were in 2005 – maybe even more so.”
