As the world’s biggest football tournament kicks off this week, UK EV charging platform ONEEV has launched its new ONEEV Fan Zone initiative, helping football supporters enjoy every moment of the action while keeping their electric vehicles fully charged.
The ONEEV Fan Zone brings together hospitality venues, leisure destinations and EV charging locations across the UK, creating dedicated spaces where fans can watch World Cup matches on large screens, enjoy food and drink, and charge their vehicles at the same time.
Available through the ONEEV app, the initiative is designed to make matchdays more convenient for EV drivers while supporting local businesses and encouraging greater use of public charging infrastructure.
With more than 70,000 charge points accessible through the ONEEV platform, users can discover participating Fan Zone venues, plan journeys and locate places to watch matches throughout the tournament.
The concept reflects a changing relationship between mobility, leisure and hospitality, with EV charging increasingly becoming part of people’s everyday lifestyles rather than simply a refuelling stop.
Unlike traditional petrol stations, many charging locations offer drivers the opportunity to spend meaningful time enjoying nearby amenities while their vehicle charges. The ONEEV Fan Zone takes this one step further by transforming selected venues into destinations for football fans throughout the tournament.
The opening days of the tournament promise to deliver a festival of football across all three host nations. Fans will be able to follow the opening fixture in the United States, before attention turns to the first matches hosted in Mexico and Canada, marking a historic moment as the tournament is staged across three countries for the first time. The opening games are expected to attract millions of viewers worldwide, with supporters gathering in fan zones, bars and hospitality venues to experience the atmosphere together.
For UK-based fans, the ONEEV Fan Zones provide an opportunity to enjoy these landmark opening fixtures without missing a moment of the action. Whether watching the tournament opener in the USA, the first match hosted in Mexico City or the opening game in Canada, supporters can combine match viewing with convenient EV charging and hospitality experiences close to home.
Tim Moore, Co-Founder of ONEEV, said:
“The World Cup is one of the biggest sporting events on the planet and brings people together wherever they are. We wanted to create something that reflects how EV drivers live. Charging an electric vehicle doesn’t have to mean waiting around. It can be part of a much bigger experience. The ONEEV Fan Zone allows drivers to enjoy great football, great hospitality and convenient charging all in one place.
“The opening matches in the United States, Mexico and Canada will set the tone for the entire tournament. We know fans across the UK will want to be part of that excitement, and our Fan Zones give them a place to come together, enjoy the atmosphere and make the most of their time while their vehicles charge.
“Whether you’re supporting England, one of the host nations or simply enjoying the tournament, our aim is to make it easier for people to travel, connect and enjoy the occasion.”
The tournament, hosted across the United States, Canada and Mexico, begins this week and runs until 19th July, with Fan Zone locations available to discover through the ONEEV app.
Fans can use the app to locate participating venues, access charging facilities and plan journeys around fixtures during the tournament, including the opening matches hosted across the three nations and the key fixtures that follow.
