A new home energy storage system designed to help households cut electricity costs and make better use of renewable power has been unveiled in the UK, as demand grows for smarter, more flexible energy solutions.
Anker SOLIX has launched its latest product, the XE home battery, at Solar & Storage Live London 2026, positioning it as an all-in-one system aimed at improving how households store and use electricity. The system combines a 5,000W bidirectional inverter with a 7kWh battery, enabling homes to store excess solar energy or take advantage of cheaper off-peak tariffs.
The launch comes at a time when UK households are increasingly looking for ways to manage rising energy costs while reducing their reliance on grid electricity. Energy storage systems are widely seen as a key component in the transition to low-carbon living, particularly as uptake of solar panels, electric vehicles and heat pumps continues to grow.
According to Anker SOLIX, the XE system has been designed to support both everyday energy use and higher-demand applications. It can store surplus solar energy generated during the day for use in the evening, or charge overnight when electricity prices are lower. The company says this approach can help households smooth out energy costs and reduce peak-time consumption.
Aaron James Darvill, Strategic Sales Director for Anker SOLIX UK, said the product reflects a broader shift in how energy is being consumed and managed in homes.
He said:
“The UK is entering a new phase of energy transition, with strong momentum behind smarter homes and clean energy. Technologies that give consumers greater control over when and how they use electricity will play a critical role. Energy storage is central to that shift.”
The XE system includes smart energy management features accessible via a mobile app. Using AI-driven forecasting, the system can analyse energy usage patterns and predict future conditions, such as reduced solar generation during cloudy weather. It can then automatically charge the battery at lower-cost times to ensure sufficient energy is available when needed.
An integrated voice-enabled assistant, known as Anka, allows users to interact with the system using natural language, helping to simplify energy management for households unfamiliar with more complex setups.
In addition to its operational features, Anker SOLIX has focused on simplifying installation. The system uses an all-in-one design intended to reduce installation time, with the company claiming efficiency improvements of up to 80% compared to more traditional systems. It also offers scalability, allowing capacity to be expanded significantly as household energy demands increase.
The company is also continuing to develop plug-and-play solar storage products aimed at a wider market, including renters and apartment dwellers. While these systems are not yet widely available in the UK, growing regulatory support for small-scale solar and battery storage could open the door to broader adoption.
Anker SOLIX recently joined the Solar Energy UK trade body, signalling its intention to play a more active role in the UK’s clean energy transition and collaborate with industry partners.
As policymakers and industry leaders push towards net zero targets, innovations in home energy storage are expected to play an increasingly important role in enabling households to become more energy independent while supporting a more resilient, low-carbon grid.
